Gamma-Cyclodextrin (γ-CD)
Gamma-Cyclodextrin (assay 98.0–102.0%, dried basis) is a white crystalline powder made up of eight glucose units in a ring, offering a versatile molecular carrier for supplement, food and pharmaceutical formulations. At Benefacta, we supply this high-purity ingredient produced from starch by enzymatic conversion, ideal for formulators working with actives that are difficult to dissolve, stabilise or mask.
Whether you are formulating with coenzyme Q10, curcuminoids, fat-soluble vitamins or volatile flavours, gamma-cyclodextrin offers the largest cavity of the natural cyclodextrins (7.5–8.3 Å) and a water solubility of approx. 232 g/L at 25 °C, more than ten times that of beta-cyclodextrin. Larger molecules that do not fit a beta-cyclodextrin cavity can form inclusion complexes with gamma-cyclodextrin, improving their water dispersibility, protecting them against oxidation and light, and masking bitter tastes and off-notes. This makes it particularly suitable for water-dispersible powders, liquid formulations, taste-masked products and flavour encapsulation.
We provide complete traceability and comprehensive documentation (TDS, SDS, COA) with every batch, ensuring consistent quality for European manufacturers. The ingredient’s high purity, low related substances and solvent-free production process make it a preferred choice for formulators seeking a clean, reliable carrier that combines formulation flexibility with proven performance.
